Mama's Valentine

What Lian is up to at 23 months! :)

1) Talking alot! He can now say: Mama clearly, says Gaga instead of Dada, shoe, go, wawa for water, ish for fish, push, help, cup, book, back, up, bye bye, more, pa, pop, ba ba for bubbles and tries to say alot more including car, truck, train (can only make the c/k sounds). He is trying to figure out how to put two sounds together, so for example "help", I say "Ha" - "P" and he'll repeat it back to me. He still can't make the sounds L, T, D, N. He does make the N sound a little but it sounds more mixed with the Y sound. The T, D, N sounds are the "alveolar" sounds and that's right where his cleft is so I know it's due to that.

2) He still loves to read his books, re-arranging toys, putting things in and out, stacking, and counting. He also is showing more interest in his cars, trucks, trains, big machinery type of vehicles, and also all things sports related that has a ball in it, lol.

3) He is now getting more upset if he doesn't get his way....I guess the "terrible twos" are coming, lol. It's still really not that bad and if he's being really unreasonable I just let him cry it out and after he gets it out I say "All done?" and usually he's alright after that.

4) He is also wanting both Steve and I to be together when we are both at home. He usually grabs one of our hands and brings it toward the other so that we're sitting right next to each other and then he sits right between us......so cute. He loves his time with both us together.

5) He is now trying to say the words as well as sign, I am still incorporating the signs with words since I think it really helps with him trying to express his wants/needs. New signs he's learned: train, water, book, read, fruit, go, stop, hurt, wash hands, dirty, clean. He already knows potty and it will help alot once we get his baby potty.....we are going to try potty training after his birthday :)

6) Next classes: Kid Rock, Little Learners, Toddler playgroup, Parent-Tot Sports, Toddler Art (and yes he is a very busy little man....far busier than Mama :)
